Ponderosa referred by locals as "Pondo" is 2
hours north northwest of Bakersfield up highway 190. At the end of
the plowed road is the parking area and the wonderful Ponderosa
Lodge where you can warm up by the fire or grab a bite to eat. The
parking area is about 7,000 feet elevation. When taking the north
road trail the Yurt (warming hut) is about 5 miles.
Driving Directions
From Bakersfield take highway 99 north to highway 65 to highway
190. Follow highway 190 east to the parking areas.
Parking
There are two parking areas, one at Quaking Aspen campground and
the other at the end of the plowed road.
